Writing School

Since I began writing in 2007, I learned so much about the English language, its rules and guidelines, and also about writing technique. It is almost too much to remember, and that is why I started this blog.

In my day job, I have to read a lot of manuals and technical writings. Some of my fellow system engineers set up their own blogs to jot down notes about fixes and solutions they found that helped them. In case they come across that problem again, they can simply refer to their notes on how they fixed it the last time. In In the process, they allow everyone else to partake of their knowledge and expertise.

I thought I should do the same, only for the things I have learned about writing. So the following pages are merely reminders to myself in order not to forget anything. If, in the course of that, I can help somebody else, even better.

I gathered my wisdom from going to workshops, writer’s conferences, from books about writing, and from my critique group. Am I the expert on the topic? Goodness, no. But I continue to learn and improve myself. The topics I cover here are nothing new, but it never hurts to remind oneself of the lessons and with it sharpen the skills even more.

I write fiction and my notes are geared toward fiction writers. Some things might also apply to nonfiction authors.

Feel free to explore.
